More About Me

I have always loved books. When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up the answer was always author. Growing up with a mother who worked as a teacher librarian, an aunt who gave novels as presents every Christmas, and a grandmother who was never without a pile of library books; how could I not? At first, I wanted to be an author and illustrator, but once I graduated to reading chapter books, I realised I wouldn’t have to draw pictures—which was a huge relief!

My journey to calling myself an author has been circuitous, to say the least. I started studying archaeology and palaeoanthropology but left to raise my two children. I trained and practiced in a variety of forms of Complementary Therapies such as Reiki and Crystal Shamanism and eventually trained and worked in Community Services, running psychoeducational and mindfulness groups, and providing case management.

I spent a long time doing anything but writing, yet somehow, the written word continuously drew me back. My desire to write finally won out and I began to write in earnest.

I have always loved stories - fantasy, magic realism, cosy stories (both mystery and fantasy), and fiction in general, and I am a true believer in the healing power of a good book.

I am currently editing my ‘magical’ novel, with the support of a wonderful group of fellow authors who I met through the AWC’s Write Your Novel course and I can’t wait to share it with you all.
